Daylight

I gotta admit they've done a good job, but I still don't see why they had to hack down every tree bar the holly tree :(

This is the view from the beginnng of the alleyway, the brown gate at the end (left of trees is ours). They've put up the new fencing to hold the soil up.

Closer to my end of the alley. I guess you can see why they cut down the trees, they are more bush type than tree type. Maybe if they were just trunks then they would have left them. I can see what they mean by them proving a hide out for kids.
I'm a little concerned as this last tree which is behind my wall is actually on council property, so who knows if it'll still be there tonight?

Here is the view from my end looking back...

And finally my new view from my living room. I've been thinking it might not be so bad if my neighbours opposite put up a 6 foot fence. That would then make the white pitch shed there look tidier. I reckon I could grow something in front of my shed to grow over the roof and then that would hide the view of the Kia garage. It might be salvagable yet. I would be very happy if the council lady would plant new trees/bush/pivet anything bigger than bulbs behind my fence. I'll see what she says.

Little update

We're pretty much finished, but I have added some shrubs and a bargainous £2 rose bush to the garden as well as done a bit of painting the fences.

Future jobs include:
  • Building the brick wall out back
  • Finish painting the back fences
  • Scraping all the rubbery bits off the back outside wall of the house (where they had glued a conservatory I assume)
  • Replace the guttering
  • Paint the soffits
  • Replace the fence out the front
  • Build/buy some sort of Wheely bin hider/camouflager.
  • Fit and paint internal doors
  • And one day get a new kitchen
Most of the above will wait till next spring now, but we're in the process of booking a carpenter to fit the doors for us before Christmas.

I will try to get photos of the garden soon as it's getting better and more mature already :) I planted 60 tulips, and 100 crocuses and snowdrops, so I look forward to when they come up.

Hallway finished (except carpet)

We've had a busy few weekends finishing off some small jobs, some which we had been putting off for a while.

We finally painted the ceiling in the bathroom and put the bathroom light up:

I got some photos I took printed on canvas. The top left is cornwall, right is Gizmo, bottom left Times Square and right is the New York Skyline, all taken by me. They are to go in the Bedroom.

Here's the front garden again

And the hallway...finally looking like a hallway and not a DIY storage room.

And the landing:

Hallway, Shed door and more garden pics

The hallway is finally painted :)

Before and after of under stairs:

This is Colin's shed. He removed the doors, panelled up one side, stripped one door and stained it. I made up the hanging baskets :)

This is probably about a month's growth between the following 2 photos. The hedges are definitely growing now.
